This could apply to several different people, however, this may be relevant to those who may be unsure of what they want to do for their future - and understand that going to school is obviously going to benefit them in the future. I would just like to shed some light on a few good tips I have used so as a transfer student myself.
1st. Just get good grades
Getting the best grades possible really will open up options for you, no matter if you want to go to a highly ranked university or a local university which is good enough, with good grades you will at least have the option. So get the best grades you can possibly can and worry about the application later.
Sidenote: Be sure to take the right courses, if your courses won't transfer over to the next institution then you will be somewhat behind and the admissions committee won't be attracted by your application.
2nd. Get involved, but not into every single club/organization.
One should obviously get involved in school extracurricular activities. Though a common mistake would be to register for every club and organization that exists on your campus. A better strategy (in my opinion) would be to get heavily involved in 2 clubs/organizations - this does include honor societies and student government. Try to run for an office position and actually make some contribution, that way you can actually display your abilities on an application stating what you did as a President, Vice President, Treasurer of such and such organization.
These two things are very crucial for a transfer applicant. There are a lot of minor things here and there that are very critical in getting admissions to a university, stay tuned for more updates.
